To better understand child development, Richard Neville decided to see the world from a child’s point of view. What did he observe? Children want to learn, and we might just be getting in their way… One common theme stood out: Children ’s overwhelming desire to LEARN. A child’s brain is the apex of evolution. It’s the greatest learning machine on the planet. Children learn from everything, all the time. But they need the circumstances to allow them to develop the smartness to become a bright hope for the future.
Our kids are instructed, controlled, managed more by adults than all the preceding generations. But the moments that define me are the moments when I didn’t really follow someone else’s instructions. Oscar wild said: Be yourself, because everyone else is taken. Our kids are losing the time to learn how to make their own decisions. It’s a really big thing to learn how to be yourself.
